WHAT'S NEW?
Nothing Much...

PUNCTURED!

OH NO!!! I've a backlog of stuff to write about!! Well.. so here goes:

Last Mon (22nd June), Chip, Mom n I went to MacPherson, coz Chip's bicycle tyre punctured, and there's this bicycle repair shop there that we always go to.. Anyway, the bicycle was still "cycle-able", so I told Chip to ride on the bike.. U know.. Save some leg energy mah..

UNFORTUNATELY, after maybe 10 revolutions, the wheel started to degrade before our eyes!!! muahaha.. It was a hilarious sight man!! Didn't know that wheels could disintegrate until liddat...

(focus on front wheel)

I just kept laughing, coz the front wheel made it impossible for Chip to even push the bicycle.. So he had to "move it move it" like this:

haha.. I guess those passersby might be thinking that he's very farnie lor.. push bicycle also muz push liddat.. action-bedeh-cum-wanna-look-for-trouble look. All in one.

Oh. The repair shop wasn't too far from our place.. So the paiseh-factor wasn't long-lasting enough for my liking.. Anyway, the uncle at the shop was pretty cunning.. He initially said that the repair of the front wheel'd cost around $36. Then he changed his mind after lunch, telling us that he'd change both wheels at a price of $68. Mom counted and felt something was amiss.. So she asked for a detailed breakdown of the pricing. The uncle then went on to count count count.. And got $58 instead.. Wah piang. He's damn chikers lah! Wanna cheat us of a full $10! Luckily Mom's very smart. Hee... Yup!

And so.. here's a picture of the conniving schemer:

Oh! I forgot to mention that he's damn disgusting too! He wanted to test if the tyre was leaking air out.. So he dripped a drop of saliva on the floor (it was foamy and white de lor!) and used his finger to "seal" the tyre air opening with his drool lah! EEEK! I almost wanted to puke out the bak chor mee I ate during lunch!

Hee.. aiyah.. but overall, I'm just glad that the bicycle's fixed.. So Chip can go cycle to the neighbouring mama shops n buy me my favourite Lays at a cheaper price!! GO GO GO!!!

DJ vs Chippy in a Bowling Showdown

After reading the previous post and the tags associated with it, you'd be expecting a bowling showdown to happen any moment. That moment did come last wed, when Mom, me, and the two involved (DJ and Chippy) went to Marina Square's Superbowl..

Just so you understand the reason for the PK: DJ claimed that she scored 150 on her first game of bowling, a score that was more than Chippy's when he had his first try.. So after attaining a score of 175 in one of his games, Chippy decided to challenge DJ to a round of bowling.

Ok. So back to the actual showdown. Chippy started the game first and seemed like he's all out to beat DJ!!

DJ, on the other hand, was a cool cucumber.. See how calm and collected she looked as she chose her ball..

And that "seductive" pose with her butt stuck out.. muahahaha.

Halfway through the match, the score came to an all-time close. DJ was just 2 points away from Chippy!! Haha! See how happy DJ was, and how frustrated Chippy became..

Of course, Chippy wouldn't let himself lose to DJ.. And so... He went from serious to more serious...

And... managed to beat DJ by 30points! YESH.. Final score's 103 vs 73.. Look at him as he displayed a very "zhuai" look..

Hee.. and that was what happened last wed... Anyway, Chippy just downloaded a bowling game on his new device.. and I happened to beat him at it last night. Do I sense another challenge is brewing or what..

BOWLING ADDICT, ME!

HEAHEAHEA haven't heard from me already and starting to miss me blog? HAH now fret no more cause i am back!! Lemme tell you a story about my life in Polytechnic: see the thing is i have never played bowling before, NEVER!! Everytime i walk pass a bowling alley, i will think to myself that "I want to bowl" but in the end, always, never had the chance to play bowling. Maybe it is because of the phobia that you will hurt yourself here and there. BUT THE THEN!! i managed to join bowling in my school!! Lemme jump straight to the point. As i was new to the game, i had 45 points for my first ever game!! Oh ya, and btw the cost per game is $2 but have a condition which is to play 3 games minimum. ($6). And so I continued to bowl and trying to get the posture and positioning right.

Today, i went to school for bowling alone, not training, not with anyone. And i got 175 points for the 5th game!! BTW again, i played 6 games which costs me $12. HAH i can read your mind. You might be thinking that i am an 'action bedek' then my answer to that is here are the evidence!!
Pictures are shown in ascending order of games.

Hi again. Want to blog about the place Mom and her ex-colleagues went to have lunch.
Cos Mom was so raving about the beef set from JustAcia @ Dhoby Ghaut Exchange, I figured to go try it out when I was there with Gavin.
Here's the highly praised bulgogi set. Mom can go on and on about the large portion of beef. So filling. And on the other end, she'll criticise about the small portion of fish her colleague had. She'll mention it's the healthier set choice though. Anway, it's small. Think her other colleague ordered the chicken cutlet (or teriyaki?) set. Ah.. and the legendary S$1 chawamushi. Offer comes with set ordered.

Beef's alright. Kimchi cabbage tastes like raw cabbage with kimchi sauce. I've eaten self-made raw cabbage salad and yup not too good.
Here's my tom yum chicken soup and ebi tempura set. Prawns were rather full of dough (mushy inside and can't really feel the prawn's meat). I liked the fried batter as its texture feels good in the mouth. Fluffy, flaky. I ate the tail shells as well.
Tom yum's not too bad (Aroy Thai @ Funan is the BEST). Loads of chicken inside. Endless.
Stingy with the edame beans. Wished there were more.

We also ordered a seaweed tofu. Better than expected. Can't really taste the seaweed flavour though.

After the meal, we had free flow of drinks and ice-cream. I didn't go over to the bar. So not sure what choices there are in all. I only had peach tea for drinks. For ice-cream, there's vanilla, mocha, strawberry, paddlepop, mango and chocolate. I've tried them all. Didn't like any. Gavin loved the mango one. Reminds him of the ice-cream topping on his fav mango sunrise dessert.
Overall Gavin and I clocked up a total bill of S$31. There's 10% of ala-carte items for Citibank and HSBC card holders.

Hi peeps, I took a random photo on the way to work today. He looked like Wolverine, or the plump-er Oriental version anyway.

[Side-note] The uncle beside is very tired. Cos he's reading with his eyes closed.. zzZ..

Now then, before you start questioning me and my wonder eyes, let me justify why I think he looks like the fictitious character from the comic series X-men.

Notice the hair. Or rather, the sides. See the upward sweeps? A tell-tale sign. He's not that bushy in the brows but yet there's some grisly bear bristles at the jawline and chin region.

Oh.. but sad to say, he also resembles "Angry eyes and flaring nostrils" Tay Ping Hui. A squished version.

Overall just want to comment on his terrible shoe-sense. What is he thinking of? Canvas does not go well with his look. Let me suggest a pair of brown Puma slip-on sport sneakers.

Arts on the Move 30 May 2009 (Saturday)

Hi All,

Singapore Arts Festival 2009 is here and the Esplande is bustling with activity.

I was poring over the online catalogue of events for this season. Being a sucker for free arts performances, I decided to focus on the non-ticketed performances. I've picked a few and narrowed to just one for this weekend.

"Arts on the move" - Mono the Monkey (Electric-Circus from the Netherlands)

Merlion Park at 5pm

Gavin and myself made our way there. It was a hot and humid afternoon. Many tourists were there. Horror of all horrors. No stage, No performers, No monkey. Ok, we were slightly early. I was having some doubts.. As usual.. I got the jitters.. Maybe I was duped.. Well, Gavin and I walked along the Singapore River, under the road-bridge and lined by Starbucks, Tapas and a souvenir shop. We found ourselves at the Fullerton hotel area at the end of the path. A very quiet place, ideal for siesta and lazing around with tea and a good read. Ok, got to face the fact, re-traced footsteps back to Merlion Park.

Hurray, Mono arrived~ Yup, you've guessed it. Mono is a robot. Chay~ I was so looking forward to watching a real monkey ride and bike and turn the music box. Sheesh.

The lady was the presenter of the show while the guy was Mono's controller. He's got the mouthpiece and the sling bag is a controller unit with mini joystick. Overall just a kids' show. I'm awed by the mechanics and the work behind building Mono. Oh, the ancient mechanical music box is also very nostalgic. Great job!!

At the end of the day, I was interviewed by a Ngee Ann Polytechnic Mass Comm. student. She was asking questions regarding public opinion on SAF (Singapore Arts Festival, what else? Sinagpore Armed Forces?).

Before we left, a group of patriotic Singaporeans held hands around the mini Merlion and sang "We are Singapore, Singaporeans". No acapella. Horrendous. Gavin vomitted at their effort.

Endnote: We went back to Merlion Park in the evening for the Diamond (by Dream Engine UK) performance. Acrobats on two flowing fabric. Not too amazed. But watching it in the drizzle, very romantic. Then caught the local string quartet VOX with their renditions of pop songs. Not to my liking. I prefer Classical and yup, reminds me. I must go look for violin lessons to sign up. Soon.

When the Connection was Down...

Wasn't able to blog about what happened the past few days, coz our phone line went cranky. Yup. But now that it's up and running, the chikers posts resume!!!

On Sat, mom n I made my fav pancakes at home!!! YESH!! Oh. It was so easy to make them, it seems really ridiculous to have to pay so much to eat them at Macs.. oops..

Anyway, I wanted to have a huge pancake, so mom did as requested.. muahaha... Look at the sheer size of the flour-butter-egg mix!

And the end-product looks like this!! MMMMMMmmmmmmm..... I had a ball eating those delish pancakes! But I kinda had too much of it. Am now abstaining from pancakes for the moment..

Ooh.. Chippy and I played frisbee in the evening.. How come movies/tv shows make frisbee-playing seem so enjoyable when it's actually a horribly-tiring sport? My sweat was dripping into my eyes half the time lah (coz it was so sunny!!!)! So much for my thick eyebrows...

Also, the place we were playing on wasn't exactly great. The field was super super uneven lah! I nearly sprained my ankle while trying to catch the frisbee.. oh. and did i mention how sunny it was?

Maybe us both were noobies lah, that's y we ended up being cut by the frisbee on our middle finger. Yup. Sobs.. Hee.. But we got a "treat" at the end of the day: A Mac meal for Chippy, and the dark green cup for me!! YIPEEE!!!

On Sun, we went to the TimeZone outlet at Vivo. YESH.. it's another successful attempt by Chippy to get us to accompany him to his favourite haunt.. Hee.. this time, we didn't play too many games, just the bball machine, the throw-balls-at-screen game, Jackpot and Time Crisis.. Ooh! This time round, I remembered to get some pics of mom n Chippy having fun!!

Hee.. the trip ended with a quick whizz through Daiso, and dinner at Heng Shan, the eatery near our place.. yup.. I have a feeling I'm gg to blog about another trip to the arcade next week. But we shall see lah..
Comments from DJaku:
Nice pancakes you've made there with mom. Caution: A tad bit fattening. No wonder you had a ball eating the stuff. Literally a ball on the belly after consumption. Yikes!!
Reading about the frisbee activity got me laughing non-stop. It (Frisbee) should not be too tough ah.. throw and catch.. but to factor in the tough terrain and sunny weather, I say, good work-out~
And my goodness! Mom has been captured in digital pixels, engaged in some really insane and pleasurable leisure activity!! Good for her!!
