WHAT'S NEW?
Nothing Much...

DJ on a x'mas quest

X'mas 2010. Wow, time really zoomed by so fast. Another year's ending. It's the season to panic at what pressies to buy for loved ones and love-to-hate ones. Very soon enough, you realize you're busy planning what to wear on Chinese New Year reunion dinner and home visitations (yes, alam, I am not the only one in Singapore suffering from this paranoia..) Bottom-line: Lots of shopping!! Love it~

I have begun this x'mas with a mission: To take photos (with me inside, of course) of all the x'mas trees at shopping malls.

I can't say I was successful but I had fun doing this project. Anyway, here're some places I've been to during the festive x'mas 2010...

Plaza Singapura - my fav haunt with Ichiban Sushi, Daiso, Spotlight and GV.

Hmm.. We seemed to have blocked out most part of the stick-thin tree made of purple paper folded hearts.

Actually the tree outside PS is very nice. But somehow in the night, things just look a little different on my digital camera..

Shopping at Bugis street was fun. Found the tree and Stitch at Parco. Never miss a photo opportunity, yes, we are tourists..

Winnie the Pooh theme was at NEX. This new heartland shopping mall is simply teeming with people! This is one of the places I would just go once and never return..

At Suntec City with the deja-vu feeling of seeing the same tree at different venues around Suntec... I thought I was losing my mind...

TampinesOne had such a dainty tree! What were we doing at Tampines? Well, after going to EXPO for computer fair and the flea market event, having dinner there was the right thing to do. Sushi tei service there is lousy!

Ang Mo Kio Hub was a silly idea of mine. I wanted to go to see the nebo flea market. Turned out to be a super small event area at the very top of the mall. Overall I liked the shopping there.. really liked the white dress.. if fated, i shall buy it the next time i see it.. Anyway, Gavin and I ended up watching TRON. I liked the idea of the story, just the absurdness bugs me. J, is there the game Tron? You have it? :)

So having seen so many trees, I start to worry about new year.. WHAT TO WEAR?

Internet - Jape

Because of promotions coming out for STARHUB, the other people currently on the plan are being affected..This process is also known as CONGESTION. It might also happen to other people on other plans like SINGTEL and M1. I hope the promotion ends soon.

Lemme break it down.
For the download speed, it is supposed to be around 1.5 - 2.0 because of my plan which is 2mb.
Upload speed is in the correct range.
Ping is the worst problem for me cause its a mobile broadband. It can't be helped.
1.5/5 .. have to wait for it to get better.

*Update - Its the best now, OPTIC!

Christmas 2010

Hello all!

DJzzZ is here to type so that J cannot dominate the entire page.

Christmas is just around the corner. I know I already mentioned it to both of you, yes you and you, 2/3 of chikalampats. That means just alampats, hahaha! I'm the Chik, ok. Alam is Too and Pats is J. Cool! Funny till burst!

This Christmas, I want a mobile flip-up up fan. Any pattern is fine. The one Too gave me years ago was spoilt. I still remember it was blue with black button having soft plastic flapper propellers and 2 batteries-operated. Nostalgic. Too! I want the mini-fan!

J, you can give me the smallest torch you can find. I still remember you once gave me the strongest magnets in the world. Now, another task to search the world to find stuff for you favourite DJzzZ. Like a quest, isn't it?

What would you like for Christmas Alam and Pats? (oh no, i'm so going to be bashed up by Too! but i dont think she'll be reading this post, right J? She should be busy watching House/Family Guy/Handsome Man show or blogshopping till her eyes pop out (plus pimples popping too). Stare at the screen till she becomes unconscious and scares mom when mom finds her in the dark room, the com running and her face glowing beside the still-running screen (no screen saver?) Too, time to sleep!

Ok, enough rubbish cleared. Time to go back to playing Plants VS Zombies!!! (de-de-de-de-da-de de-de-de-de-da-de...)

Experimentation Jape

Just installed blogpress for iphone and gave it a try.. Seems pretty good. First post not on a computer! Yay!

KYAed

Techy Jape

Ello~ Seems like its another day for me to post on this blog!
Topic of the day : Intel-SSD

What does SSD stands for?
It's Solid State Disk. By Intel
What is it?
It can actually replace your current hard disk.
Is it expensive?
Less than 1000 if you really want to use your laptop with confidence
What advantage does it provide as compared to the normal hard disk?
It is faster because it is a flash hard disk and doesn't use any spinning disk in it, all flash blocks.

Experience with it :
Really fast - startup time and restart time is very snappy.
It is even better than the speed of an iphone or ipad or ipod touch, really.
Well that concludes jape's tech corner.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA i was sooo lucky yesterday!! Traffic Police Practical Test was a success (rhyming? thx). Got 6 demerit points though, improved tremendously (pat on the back uhh ;yay?) from the 18 demerit points + an immediate failure during the practice trial. Lemme see if i could remember what i was tested.
Let's see...
1. Directional Change
2. Slope
3. Parallel
4. Crank Course
5. S Course
6. Verticle
7. Parallel (again? YES)
8. Out on the road
What not tested..
1. Emergency Stop
2. U turn

Some Experience I had..
There were 3 people who were being tested yesterday.. I was the only one who had to wait the longest... I was the last to leave the waiting room, last to get my results.. But it was quite an experience cause i thought i would have failed.. Well the license will be sent to me by mail a month later.. Oh .. why do i keep forgetting to say the important parts.. After receiving the result, you will have to sit for a short video(8mins) about safe driving where they will show you all those gruesome pictures of previous drivers who encountered accidents, survivors and dead people.. I was thinking.. out of all those deaths, i don't see any traces of air bags being activated in the cars.. Are the air bags fake or only when accident hit the front of the cars or the people cut it away. Well its a mystery.
To all those who are going to take their TP practical test, GOOD LUCK.
Goodbye SSDC~

This is just another one of those games fit for people who likes music in their games. I, particularly find this game special because it uses the mouse instead of the normal keyboard/controller. As the theme describes, "Ride Your Music", true enough, it replaces the normal 3 empty boxes at the bottom with an ...... aeroplane(to move around with).. HAHA sounds funny right? Wait till you try it, you will have a whale of a time. Comes with a variety of game modes to discover. Try it now~

New Phase

Ahh im so excited with the new AuditionSEA patch that is coming to town!.. Season 2 to Season 3. Never had I been so enthusiastic about this. This might be because i had been spending loads of time and effort in "auditioning". Best "coordination" game i have ever played, followed by guitar hero. This brings me to introducing the new guitar mode rolling out in the new patch. But i would miss season 2 though..Enjoy the login page from season 2 to season 3~

AUDITIONSEA ~hwaiting!~

HEYS THERE!
just want to share a little something that i have been doing from the beginning of the year.
I have been driving!! wooo interesting!. The structure is rather complicated at first (reason why i post after 6 months)I will be clarifying the structure here so that everyone who sees this blog will have a better understanding.. (they should pay me man!)

Ok so.. when u first enrol, its $155.15 for manual transmission and $101.65 for automatic transmission. This is a one time pay for a year enrolment, subsequently, an addition of $70+ for another year extension. This enrolment fee includes free theory lessons(1,2,3,4) and free theory books(basic and advance).

Next, it goes like this. You will need to book 4 slots of theory trial test first, each at $5.25
Explanation: First three will be for practice, answers will be given. The last one however, is a trial test, no answers will be provided. A pass is needed so that the Basic Theory Test(BTT) can be BOOKED, at $6.00(1 month later).
My experience: I had huge problems here because of classes clashing with the test date.
Validity of booked BTT/FTT is 30 days. Once over or missed, you have to book for 1 trial test slot to see if u pass + you will have to wait 1 month for the BTT or FTT that is booked.

After having a pass in BTT, you will be able to start the practical lessons at SSDC!. Each lesson is priced at $71.69 during off peak hours and $80.25 during peak hours.
My case: I signed up for manual transmission and therefore have a total of 33 lessons, automatic transmission should be less (28?maybe). In the middle of the lesson, around 20-21, you will have to take a compulsory automatic transmission lesson for the manual transmission.

At the same time, do remember to try and complete the FTT. Similar to BTT, the FTT also need the student to book 4 slots of theory trial test.
I forgot to mention!! After attending the basic theory TRIAL test, the money you paid will be transferred to you into your student account so that you won't have to spend money for the final theory TRIAL test.

All in all, during the practical lessons, the student must complete all of the following
1) A.T.V
2) FTT

When completed the lessons and the above 2 points, the student will be able to book for a practical test at the kiosk. $20.00 per test.
My experience: This is where I am still at, be sure to check the update in late december--- wish me luck!

Opera: 12.2MB

Interface appeal
Mozilla Firefox: 9/10
Google Chrome: 9/10
Opera: 5/10

Specialized Features
Mozilla Firefox: Millions of addons
Google Chrome: Isolated Process function
Opera: Mouse gestures, full features preinstalled.

BETAs current available for download
Mozilla Minefield(3.7a5pre): http://nightly.mozilla.org/
Opera(10.6 Alpha 1): http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/
(Img of Mozilla Minefield)
BETAs review
GoogleChrome: Slow, zoom function does not integrate into flashplayer...
Opera: Slow, mouse gestures a waste of time actually.
Google Chrome and Opera has got to go!.. Not user friendly!
Tested Minefield against the 2 browsers. Even if i entered the 2 browsers first, minefield still owns. Clearly there is a winner (for now..maybe..)
SP's BEST internet connection... what more can you ask for ? hahahahaa

Celebrity Car Boot Sale!!

Went to the 8Days' Celebrity Car Boot Sale at Millenia Walk with mom.. Was expecting a huge outdoor event with loads of apparels (since all proceeds go to Charity, so the more the merrier, right?), but was quite disappointed when only about 5-6 car boots displayed items "donated" by Mediacorp artistes.Searching through the limited items, we did find some interesting stuff. Eg: Felicia Chin's pink bikini, Xiang Yun's children's watch, Jean Danker's Trendy Zone heels (.. Oops. Sorry if I sound discriminatory, but I thought only commoners like us go for brands like those). Of course other celebs such as Zoe Tay, Fann Wong, Yvonne Lim and Utt contributed to the worthy cause.

Anyway, I got mom to model a pair of shades previously worn by Yvonne Lim. If clothes maketh a man, then mom's definitely on her way to stardom!

Then we went indoors for the Celeb-Meet-and-Greet sessions.

2pm: Saw Tabitha Nauser, Michelle Chia, Sylvia Ratonel, and the cast of The Noose.

Tabitha: this gal can really sing! She totally blew me away.. Though the sound system wasn't at its best, she managed to hold her ground and deliver the theme song for the YOG superbly well. It's a pity she only sang 1 song..

Michelle Chia and Sylvia Ratonel: the two svelte hosts of Buffetlicious! looked Beautilicious! Michelle Chia was also generous enough to reveal her secrets to staying slim despite having hosted many food programmes (the secret being that she doesn't do supper and snacks).. Watched the premiere myself. Thought the programme not bad! :) Wished they featured more wallet-friendly buffet places though..

The Noose's Andre Chichak (Alaric Tay), Jojo Joget (Suhaimi Yusof), Jacques Ooi (Chua En Lai) and Babarella (Michelle Chong): These people crack me up! It was hilarious watching them in the flesh, taking a dig at each other in a fun way [Eg1: they were blaming Jojo Joget for their inability to be nominated for some television award because apparently, people weighing more than 50kg in the cast'll disqualify them for the prize. Eg2: Babarella's "tanks (imagine Babarella's mouth spewing bits of food as she says this), tanks everybody" resulted in Andre Chichak's face getting carrot cake-attacked. Eg3: Jacques Ooi's (as requested by himself to be pronounced as "Jack-ass") cropped tie is a result of company's cost-cutting measure. Eg4: Andre Chichak's tuft of white hair resembles someone huge in the industry.].

4pm: Ann Kok and Terence Cao

After growing up watching Terence Cao act in Chinese dramas, it was interesting to hear him speak in English. Haha! Guess he could venture into Channel5, coz he's quite fluent in the language! While at it, maybe he should cut down on the bad boy vibe about him (he is, after all, of a certain age) too.. and not guffaw like a teen when he picked a piece of a puzzle bearing a photo of Michelle Chia's boobs (covered, that is)..

Ann Kok, on the other hand, was less chatty. But I'm really awed by how skinny she is! And how young she looks! And how early she arrived (managed to see her pose for the event 1/2hr earlier than designated)!

6pm: Joanne Peh and ... (gushes) Shaun Chen
The main aim of this trip (at least for me) was to see Shaun Chen (woohoo~). The fact that DJ saw him on her flight back overseas egged me even more (dammit. I wish I was on the plane too), and made it a definite must to see him in person.. So yesh.. I was happy when I got to see him. Live.

As expected, he's a super sweet guy, with a mesmerizing smile and was able to answer all questions posed to him in a down-to-earth manner. He also made a candid comment saying that his wife (Michelle) is too slim and wonders where does all the food she eats go.. So cute~

Joanne Peh's real tall, pretty and sane (after the madness that was witnessed on Star Awards 2009, I just HAD TO add the last descriptive word).. haha.. It's little wonder why her fans support her so much (they were the only fanclub who came for the event as a group).

Haha.. Overall, I had an ok time at the event. Sure hope mom enjoyed it too (felt kinda guilty for dragging her along and lingering around the vicinity from 2-7pm). As for our contribution to the event, we did our little part by getting a jacket and a vest from the wardrobe of Mediacorp (as for the actress who's actually worn the outfits, I'm not sure.. So if you do happen to remember these two pieces from some show, do tell! :)) Mom also got a Charles and Keith bag for only $8! Here're pics of my steals:

Jacket: Liked the solid-ness of it, even though it lacked 2 buttons (the previous wearer muz have been pretty rough on this outfit)..

Vest: Liked it coz it's cheap. Haha.. Colour's to my liking too.. But it's an S.. Shall try to lose weight to accommodate..

DJaku and Too Go to S.Korea~

Date of Incident: 14/3/2010

What would you crave for for lunch if your parents were out, leaving $20 in your keeping? Ask me that and typically, my answer would be a non-hesitant KFC! However, just for that day, my stomach wanted something else: surprise.

So instead of going to my fav fastfood restaurant, us three chikalampats went to the Jap place called hisshou(done by jape ;) ) that just opened recently.

Upon entering, a stillness in the air hit us.. THERE WAS TOTALLY NO OTHER CUSTOMER AROUND!! Haha.. thankfully the radio was on.. That kinda salvaged the awkwardness that would have otherwise been a bit too stifling for my liking..

Still wanting to try out something fresh, we decided to just stick to our guts and order. And we waited... waited... waited... I got so bored that I started to take random shots of the place:
After maybe 10min later.. the food came. At last.
GOODNESS! THE CHAWANMUSHI CAME IN A PLASTIC TAKEAWAY!!
AND THE SUSHI TOO!!! Chip n my order came soon after that.. And yesh.. we were puzzled by how something so simple-to-prepare (especially when there are absolutely NO OTHER CUSTOMERS) and common-in-taste can take so long to come..
That's mine: salmon, rice, tofu, salad..
And that's Chip's: chicken

DJ's meal came 1/2hr later (maybe even longer.. didn't really time).. so yesh, Chip n I were almost done with our meal when DJ's came.. And guess what DJ ordered: some maggi mee-like noodle with cucumber and egg strips.. OH MY GOSH!! DJ managed to finish her food within 3min or so.. The fastest time I've ever seen her eat.. Not because she's super hungry, but that there was just 4 mouthfuls of noodles in her bowl!
There ya have it -->

Overall, it was kinda disappointing.. But oh well.. Quality-wise, the food was edible. Ambience-wise, it was ok.. coz it seemed like the entire place was "booked specially for us".. But I guess i'll need more than my stomach's little whimsical wish to try new stuff to make me want to go back again..
