WHAT'S NEW?
Nothing Much...

Observe and observe

So today is the first day of my recess week. Went to school earlier in the morning. Have school tomorrow to finalize the project stuff and I think thats it for the week, I hope... Well the first 6 weeks has passed and I feel that I still cannot really concentrate in school. I find that the place is rather small, not really enough armspace and privacy. I do well "alone" I guess. Like this one time where I went to school to complete a task and went home, I find that it is much faster than having a group of friends do together. I have deduced this formula. For every hour in school doing 1 thing, I can do 100 other things every hour at home LOL. Another thing I find in school is that people are always fixated on my laptop screen in everything I do. Do they know that this can be very unproductive for me? Well, I hope I can get my project requirements right.

*Update 18 December 2016 - Well, my papers are over on 13 December. Today is the first carefree sunday. Now onto my next journey which is on 9 Jan 2017.. IWSP ._. @Perkd... I hope i don't get fired and failing my module. I was lucky I rush through my certification course if not I could not have enjoyed this little break. All the best! Till then.

*Update 2 December 2016 - So my presentations are all completed. Just my 3102 left to submit as my team needed more time to edit. Well, I survived.. Time for exams

*Update 30 November -
Last day of November. After 1st and 2nd of December where my project presentations and submissions are done. Exam dates are 5 8 9 and 13 with morning, morning, afternoon, and afternoon. Hope there will be no problem with passing with good marks. Well, off to look through codes and memorizing for exams. After exams will be my short holiday break and then off to IWSP where another round of report writing awaits for me. Good luck guys~

On September 12 2016, I purchased a 2nd hand iphone on gumtree for $790. 6s PLUS GOLD!! Yep. So what I like about it is how the hardware and software really works together seamlessly unlike android which has a compiler that makes everything slow. Hope is can last though, Warranty expires on 24 September..

*Update Some where in early October - Well I am giving up on magnetic cable for iphone. The port is really unstable on magnetic. Went to purchase flat lightning cable. iPhone does not really make good magnetic cables unlike androids

*Update 16 September 2016 - Luckily my qoo10 puchase of magnetic cable came to my mailbox. Was struggling with the previous reverse cable but had to do some hack before it can charge. So now with the magnetic, the iphone can charge rather well without any problem now. Had to cancel my appointment. Till then, hope my iphone does not have anymore problem. It is a good phone keke

*Update 15 September 2016 - Charging seems to be spoilt and could only charge sometimes. There are no dirt in the ports and the cable seems to be working fine. Booked an appointment at A.LAB @ PS.. Heard from review their service quite lousy but, oh well, free warranty why not..

CRASHED

So on 8 September 2016 at 10.25pm, I had some bad luck and slammed into the taxi with my bicycle at the zebra crossing, yes the zebra crossing. Taxi also did not see me. My right shoulder was Acromioclavicular dislocated against the left of the taxi. Had a few passer by came to help, one named Amber. She offered to keep my bicycle. Taxi driver then took me to thompson as it was near. In the end had to go to TTSH as thompson did not have xray facilities. Wait at ttsh was short at the check in but long when taking xray and what nots. In the end I had to be discharged without treatment. 11B did not help as I had ORDed. Yep that is all the bad luck I have for one day.

*Update 23 September 2016 - cancelled my appointment LOL

ICT 2110 Certification Module

Phew, tomorrow is National Day and have the free time now to write another blog post since the last.

Today I will be talking about my experience from my first 3rd party learning. Since it was a requirement to undertake a certification module for us SIT'ians to graduate. So, I have gone and take the Cloud Certified Computer Specialist (CCCS) as I am rather interested about the cloud.

However, my experience was rather bad. The class was small, which consists of 3 people. Dwight, Sailesh and me. Dwight was a rather plump guy and seems rather knowledgeable but hard to tell. Through small talks, I managed to gather some information about him. This was his 3rd certification course, with the same trainer. which is... lemme take out his namecard... , might as well put a picture as I doubt the namecard will be with me for a long time..

Found it weird as he said he is between jobs to upgrade his knowledge and skills.. blah blah blah.
Sailesh on the other hand (as I have gathered) was a married Indian and had a rather poor eyesight, which is the same as (soon to be) me.

And you would have guessed it. Yes I am surrounded by Indians haha. IT is a sector full of Indians.
Indians aside. One good thing about doing this is that I am one of the first few to start taking the certification course apart from my friends. Some had to wait another 2 weeks before the lesson starts. They were gonna take Business Analyst for your info.

Course Information
Yeah so we had 2 books that they give out. Associate and Specialist. First 2 days were Associate and The next 3 days were Specialist. The instructor keep saying that associate is just for knowledge but the MCQ came out difficult ones, if you know what I mean.. So MCQ was 40 questions. 70% to pass.

There were also some hands on. Most of the hands on did not really work on our com. Managed to solve one where the solution was to get a newer software and installing the plugins there. The rest were really a no go. However, what we learnt during hands-on were not needed in the tests.

Additional Informaiton
So the hunting for certification provider was a nightmare. I think I went to AVANTUS to search for cloud computing related cert course. I found out that it was not under ciitrep funding and there was classroom setting without registration for exam.. So I contacted them and told them I was interested and what nots. and they said the same no funding thing and then NO. Then I went on to look at RAPIDSTART site. The latter's instruction was much easier to understand. 5 day course, MCQ test and project work component is all it takes to get the cert. CCCS was also good in a sense that you pay the full amount of $3k++ first and when you have passed, the funding and discount will be given back to you. So I think I will just pass the MCQ. The report component was really not very well done. I had submitted on the 2nd day of release. Due date was 19 August LOL. After submitted, I read through again and noticed quite a little minor mistakes and numbering. Oh my. They even send a acknowledgement that they have received. So I did not bother to send another copy. Hope I pass though, will update once I get the results.

Nonsense Information
The venue for the course was at Internation Plaza, unless when the class size is big ~14pax, it might be held at a hotel. Well, due to the low demand, it is held here lol. Yeah so, international plaza was rather a fresh beginning as many people goes there to work. Crowded place. Travelling there was also a nightmare as there will always be the peak hour flow. I like how the first floor was food store, clothes and electronics shop. Lunchtime was scrumptious. First day I did not have lunch there as I had ITP presentation on, Second day I had Triple-Os, Third day I had Yong Tau Foo, Fourth day I had fan choi and Last day I had Briyani. Prices of food was shockingly expensive, but I told myself to treat it like going overseas to eat. Enjoy myself and the food there lol. As said previously, too many people there so I did not take the picture of the food. Heysh

Lecture Slides
Yeah, so I took images of lecture slides because they are like general knowledge. Did not really go sightseeing at the place. Should have taken a picture of the pantry but then it might be too much.
Sailesh on the left, Dwight on the right. (Picture from First Day only)

You can imagine my level of patience..

*Update Friday, 30 September 2016 - Went to collect the certificate 1 week after my actual collection. Went there approximately 2:45pm. Seriously deciding whether to get the $100 for doing a testimonial. Maybe not. Went to buy a $2 ICE GRASS JELLY TEA which was not so bad. Went home after to ponder on assignments again.

*Update Wednesday, 15 September 2016 - I passed my CCCS course!! YEAH!!
This is my first time getting a rather good grade. Would have done better if I checked my PWC more thoroughly but overall, a rather surprising outcome. It was a rather long wait after the project deadline. Did I mention I submitted my project work on 6 September?? hahaha! Too kan chiong.

Best Galaxy S5 Custom Rom (Other than Cyanogenmod)

Have to get back to my report after writing this post.

So I have recently found out about this 2 new custom ROMs for the S5 which are awesome. They might have been around for quite sometime but I did not have time to try it out. However, I have tried it out and really Insanity ROM will be my favourite for now.

There are 2 custom ROMs for review here:
Both ROMs are Marshmallow loaded

Resurrection Remix ROM - Without a doubt, this is probably the best custom ROM on the Galaxy S5, converting your S5 into a full-fledged Nexus phone along with endless number of awesome customization.

Insanity ROM - Convert your Galaxy S5 into a full-fledged Galaxy S7 Edge with this custom ROM!  This is a fully-ported ROM from a real Galaxy S7 Edge, meaning you will get all of the new software S7 Edge features right on your S5!

Reason why I chose Insanity over Resurrect is because I quite like the numbers on the keyboard instead of AOSP's keyboard where an extra button is needed to access the numbers at the top and also, come on S7 Edge ROM lei. It actually also spoof the device model to G935F which is the S7 edge model number.

Yep, so this is the samsung's original keyboard

and this is the AOSP's

You get my point.

One last thing about Insanity (S7 Edge port) You can get the edge panel to put shortcuts there and I found that to be quite useful.

*Update 22 July - I shall stick to Resurrection rom. Extremely smooth and good battery life. No other S5 out there can be as good as mine HAHA!

*Update 21 July - OH man!! there was another rom which is FUSION ROM which I have tried for a full day was awesome too. 3.0Mhz overclock (theoretically 3764Mhz) snappy and all but the only con was that it is only lollipop.
