WHAT'S NEW?
Nothing Much...

Hanging at Hougang

All thanks to Chippy and his insistence on going to the arcade, him, mom and me spent sunday morning at Hougang, where one of TimeZone's outlets is. As it was just around 10am when we arrived, the place was relatively vacant. Woohoo! The arcade was (almost) all to ourselves!!

The lack of spectators around, plus the cajoling by Chippy led me to play my first game of the day: a shooting game. Nonetheless, I sucked at it. Killed many hostages, shot at my own teammates, and died fast. Chikalampat. We then went on to "bowl" and play "bball". Mom tried her hand at bowling. Not bad an effort, I must say! :) Haha.. As for the bball.. Chippy n I managed to set the highest scores on both the machines available! YAHOO!!!!

At about noon (look how time flies), we went to a hawker centre (called the Manhatten group Restaurant. Posh-sounding, eh?) nearby for lunch. All of us ordered meepok dry, and was disappointed by the meal.. Not very tasty.. Oops.

After the meal, we headed back to the mall itself to do some shopping. As usual, mom always has a way of deflecting us to a supermarket everytime we go out. Ended up buying yoghurt drinks and full cream milk for her pandan cake-making experiments. We did go look at some clothes, but I totally lost the mood to shop when I see her lugging her big bag around.. such a killjoy.. but oh well.. Less consumption = more savings for future consumption.

Chippy was still itching for more gaming, so we went back to the arcade. He and I played the shooting game another time (I was still horrible at it). This time round, Mom had more involvement. Us 3 played the drum game (which I thought was hilarious) and a throw-balls-into-Winnie-the-Pooh's-mouth game. Mom also had a go at the bball machine with Chippy! Hee.. Mom then left us two while she went to the library just one level below.

Chippy went to play more bball. Took a candid shot of him as he attempted to beat the highest score(468). Not bad. Lotsa ppl were actually looking at him play! HAHA!

I, on the other hand, got a shot of something really cute! Underage driving!! Look how tiny the kid is!!

Action bedeh boy Chippy went to try out this sniper game. Unfortunately, the machine was kinda faulty, and it ate up his money.. OOPSIE! But nvm lah, coz we got points out of the "hit-the-flashing-buttons" machine to make up for it!

Having earned so many points (how can you not if u've spent the last 3 hours or so in the arcade?), Chippy decided to exchange 6 cans of soft drinks, and a frisbee using the points. I guess we'd be going frisbee-ing often from today onwards!

After a long time spent in TimeZone, we decided to head home. On the way to the MRT station, we saw an outdoor event that sought to educate the public on preventing theft, burglary, dengue.. There were some cheesy game booths that were set up. Being free-of-charge (not forgeting the fact that freebies could be won), we found it harmless to just have a go at the games. Free "arcading" leh! Haha..

There was this game that caught Chippy and my eye. The aim is simple: roll 3 balls such that you land them in a particular slot (there were about 10 slots in the device). Previous players led me to believe that the game is rigged. Even Chippy couldn't get the balls into the slot lah! How can?! ANYWAY, I had a try at it, and on my 2nd throw.. VOILA! I got it in! HAHAHAHA!!! AT LAST!! there's one game where I beat Chippy in!!! (Chippy wanted to have another try at it, but the aunty tending to the stall said one try only. YESH!) Hee.. Got a prize for my triumphant win: a very chikas-looking keychain. Aiyah.. At least it doesn't have some logo that blatantly shows that it's a freebie lah. So ok. I'm happy.

Chippy played 2 other games: the don't-touch-the-metal-wire game (where you move a metal hoop over a series of obstacles without touching the metal wire within the hoop), and the throw-the-hoops-on-the-pole game (I played this one too). Chey. In the end, Chippy got the keychain from the hoop game (I got another of that keychain too). Chikers. The metal wire game got Chippy an even better prize: a set of coasters!! wow.. My win at the ball-in-slot game seemed insignificant all of a sudden.. oh well.. wadeva..

When we reached our block, we were greeted by a blasting karaoke system at the void deck of the 1st storey. Apparently, there's a Malay wedding going on today. It's kinda hard to imagine anything blissful to happen around our area, especially when there's been this funeral "fad" going on for the last 2 months (with consecutive funerals happening at the blocks surrounding ours), and the fact that just 2 months ago, someone committed suicide by jumping off our block. I guess life has to go on, huh!

So that sorta sums up our day. In what DJ would always put it, we were tired, but happy. :)
